Having a whale of a time in Bonavista.

On my way back from the post office I remembered two things:-
(1) Seeing a young fellow hop off his bike and let himself into what used to be the lumber yard of Durdle's hardware, before it closed and
(2) Reading a piece in the news about the Bonavista Biennial which arrives every two years excepting Covid years.

The carving is on part of a whale's skull.

The sculpture represents the [spirit of] Mother earth, I think Ashley told the couple who had arrived before me.
I am standing normally, so you can get an idea of the size of the mammal's skull.
