Long live the King!
I agree about King George III.
He it was who "lost" the thirteen American colonies as a place to dump English convicts, so England had to find an alternate spot, which they did.
Had it not been for King George III I might not have had the chance to be raised an Australian!
Cheers, Chris

I particularly liked the quality live singing bits of the ceremony.

and in related news:
Please and thank you Ken, if you are allowed to tell us in this forum, who/what/why is Penny Mordant? Is she some sort of actress with a "following"n the UK? I haven't watched TV now in 10+ years, and even than I had just off-the-air, no cable, so I am very much out of date.
Cheers, Chris
P.S. Ignore my request, Wikipedia says that she is an outspoken MP.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_Mordaunt

As the current Lord President of the Council it fell to her to carry ceremonial swords at various points during the coronation ceremony.
Spoiler
Poundland is well known UK discount store. It's original unique selling point was that everything it sold was priced at £1. It's logo bears a uncanny resemblance to the dress Ms Mordaunt chose to wear for the ceremony.

:whisper: having to spell it out like that kinda takes the edge off the joke though.

Yes, agreed. A lot of traditional English church music, along with soul, liturgical greek and modern compositions.

The one they traditionally always sing at coronations, Zadok the Priest, was composed by Handel for the coronation of the previous King Charles in 1727.

I'm surprised they didn't start off with I Just Can't Wait to be King.

A classical example of "My loss would be America's gain"  :flee:

My reference is of course with respect to the hundreds of USA citizens i have met in my work and travels who, on learning that I am Western Australian exclaim "Oh! So you are from Convict Stock then!" with a nudge in my ribs.

Once the laughter has dies down, I point out to them that a significant part of the population of the thirteen colonies is descended from Convict Stock. "Some estimates claim that almost 10 percent of migrants to America during this time were British convicts." King George III triggered the end of that practice.

Britain was still shipping convicts to Australia as late as May 1956, squeezing the last boat-load through the Suez canal just before the Suez crisis.
Australia sent the really bad ones to Canada as late as 1982.
It is a documented fact that Canada, timid nation that it is, transferred the worst of the worst to the off-shore island of Newfoundland as late as 2019, and I have tracked down a well-documented case here.

Cheers, Chris

Agree this is definitely the WORST of the worst! How the nation of Canada withstood this without crumbling is a lesson in courage and determination, truly.
