Hint for Amelia: based on Chris' comment it should arrive in 9 days. That was the length of time from date of Vegemite order at Blighty’s in Orangeville Ontario to delivery at 60 Canon Bayley Road in Bonavista.
FWIW This is part of an email that arrived at the speed of light into my mail box this morning:-
Untitled.png
75 days ago I mailed a small paperback book from Bonavista to a hamlet in south-west Ireland. When Dianne asked me I wanted a low rate I asked "Is it free?", thinking of the postage, but Dianne meant that getting the low rate was free, not the postage itself, so watch out for that!

I suppose that not only does the book travel by slow ocean-freighter, but that it waits until a St John's Newfoundland post-office container fills up with small paperback books and the like, at which time the container heads off to Halifax Nova Scotia or Montreal Quebec, then waits for the weekly freighter, then ...
Cheers, Chris

2022_12_20221229_105158.jpgI am busy today, so y'all have about 24 hours to guess the contents of the package.
More about Vegemite

I finished the first jar this week, by adding a 1/8 of a jar of rain-water and using my new microwave to rinse out the liquid to add to my lunchtime pasta.
Thereby unwittingly joining the ranks of Asian cooks who find Vegemite a good substitute for Vietnamese shrimp paste.
The article notes early on the simple rule for correct use (spread a very thin layer), although the leading photo shows a distinctly liquid form, so i suspect that they rang-in Marmite.

Second Use For Everything of course, so the clean-rinsed jar will be used to ferry yet another plant cutting to my trainee gardening instructor down to Swyers, with adamant instructions that I want the jar back.

I have promised myself that I will place an order for a few more jars before I broach my remaining jar, and the quarterly federal tax rebate cheque arrived yesterday. $601. Yummy! :munch:
Cheers, Chris

Relish every last few molecules of this ambrosial delicacy until the next batch arrives. And thank you for the excellent tip for the afterlife of the jars...

Well, as we were taught in geology class ("A little iron goes a long way"), A little Vegemite ....
Cheers, Chris
P.S. I do remember hiding the second jar from myself, so this second jar might last a lot longer than one would think! C

As some of us are getting somewhat older, it might take us a long time to find it again.

Perfectly stated, Chris!
