I'm sorry about this thread, my PC was pirated when I was out of the room and it was the two stucklings wot made the post.

I'm a bit miffed that they stole my 400th post.

Oh, well if you can't beat them, join them...

Ah, but did you chaps know that "pirate talk" was invented in 1950 (and not a moment earlier!) by Robert Newton, in the Disney film Treasure Island? And that they never drew treasure maps with X marking the spot - they went off and spent the money, so no point in hiding it. (Not for nothing do I watch QI with Stephen Fry...)

That brought back memories!

I was but a wee lad of 8 or 9 when I first saw that movie. For many, many years it was one of my very favorites. So I guess we get to blame Byron Haskin (director) and Robert Newton (Long John Silver) for talking like a pirate, eh. Who knew?

More recently, I learned that the Saracen's Head Inn (written of my R. L. Stevenson in the story) is located in Towcester, Northamptonshire, England. I found out about this after learning that my alpha surname ancestor in America came from Wood Burcote outside Towcester in the 1640s. My guess is that he must have been on the wrong side of the English Civil War.

So the memories are very good ones.

Thank you Mr. Gray!

I hate to be so pedantic, but what else can one do with memories, except bring them back? :innocent:

I suppose you are waiting for me to respond with "Forget what?".
