RIP Prince Philip

Post by Doc.AElstein »

The Queen's Hubby died this morning.
I can’t say I am much of a Royalist or Patriot, well, not much anymore, anyway..

But I had a small affection for that guy.
He was Chancellor at my first University. When the Uni got heavily hit by Budget cuts we wrote to him. On one of his official visits he broke off from his planned appointments and came into out Student Union bar to talk to us about it, I got quite close to him chatting about it, well, me and about a 100 other students crammed in the small bar room.

We affectionately referred to him as Phil the Greek

99 years old, he didn’t quite get over the 100 most of us probably expected him to. But a good innings never the less.

RIP Prince Philip

:uk:

He just couldn't wait that little bit more to get the telegram from the Queen for his 100th birthday.

The best one , of course, Salford University, Applied Physics, 1980 - 1983.
( I didn't realise he had been the Chancelor anywhere else, - I geuss he did those lesser places as a secondary job .... )
