BBC News - Audio slideshow: Seeing into spaceFrom back-garden enthusiasts to professional photographers - the Royal Observatory in Greenwich received hundreds of entries for its 2010 Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition.
The winning images have now been announced - and they include solar eclipses, close-up views of the moon, and vast distant galaxies in deep space.
