True Heroes

Post by Bigaldoc »

In my local paper today: Overdue medals awarded to WWII veterans.

As many of you know, this is my daily "hangout" both to visit my wife and serve as one of its volunteers. This ceremony was yesterday afternoon.

The guy who makes all this happen is also a true hero and very hard worker. Early on in his efforts, he got two medals for my wife that she earned over 40 years ago and never received.

It's a common thing hearing about military awards being issued many years after they should have been received.

I have been out of the service since 69 and in 98 received four that were supposed have been issued to me some time in the sixties.

Seems the paper work was miss laid and some how found.

Yet the awards were mentioned on my final 214 in 69.

It's called...red, white and blue tape.

PS They came in the mail and were in cheap little blue cardboard boxes.
