Moth

Post by Graeme »

Look what just flew into my front room. It's a little over 2 inches across. Anyone know what it is?

I was about to post the same, it certainly resembles the poplar hawk moth...

It was certainly impressive. And it made us all jump! According to that Wiki link they like willow, we put one in the front garden last summer, I'll check for pale green eggs in the morning.

Yes, remarkable. Somewhere, I've got pictures I've taken but as it was many years ago so it will probably take me ages to find them.

A number of years ago, I saw what I thought was a Hummingbird visit some flowers in our yard. It did not move quite right so I got closer and it was a Moth. I realized it was visiting every day at about the same time, so I was able to get a picture. I looked it up and it is commonly called a Hummingbird Moth.

could not figure out how to paste the pic, so I attached it.

Here it is taking a drink for a flower.

Beautiful picture!

Unless you can host the picture on a website, attaching it is the way to show it in a post.
Best wishes,
Hans
