Re: Computers & banking
I remember a loooooong time ago, waiting in line to use one of those new ATM thingies. The lady in front had a young child with her who was standing on tip-toes to try and see what was going on. As the lady took her cash she started laughing. As she turned to leave she explained that the child had asked why couldn't she see the man that gave the money

O U C H ! ! !
I recognized that Burroughs computer! While I never used a drive through with a TV screen, I was part of a group that rolled out cash dispensers in the late sixties. They were followed soon thereafter by ATMs. The difference between them was that the cash dispensers were not connected to the back office computer to check the availability of funds. They simply dispensed funds based on data in the magnetic stripes on users cards. Don Meredith, he of Dallas Cowboys football fame, invested in his brother's company to make cash dispensers. The company was called Docutel.
