Re: Vuvuzelas eat your hear out.
A couple of years ago we were on holiday in Austria, one evening in the town there was a festival and inevitably alphorns featured. When they'd finished playing, the crowd were invited to have a go so my eldest stepped forward and played a simple arpeggio, much to the amazement of the band we didn't let on that he can play the trumpet

Yes, I've been to meetings like that ...presumably used to intimidate predators, frighten supernatural enemies, and convene council meetings.

Won't get blown that often then if the TV series Wallander' is anything to go by.In Ystad it is sounded each hour by a watchman to indicate that all is well.

Nowadays we use SMS, texting, for that, I guess. Beep-beep, beep-beep.
Much easier than trying to recognise all those horn messages; wuuuuaaaee-wuuae-wuaae. "Wait a minute, was that the 'there's a wolf in town'-message or was it the last call for the council’s meeting today, or, er?

True, that's why I've never visited the area.stuck wrote:Won't get blown that often then if the TV series Wallander' is anything to go by.In Ystad it is sounded each hour by a watchman to indicate that all is well.
Or as in Midsomer county (i.e. a.k.a. Bucks, Hertfordshire and surrounding area )?
I think it's done between 21:15 and 01:00(!), every fifteen minute. Wuuuuaaaaaeeeeee...
(The one used in Ystad, is apparently another type, it’s made of copper.)

Re: Vuvuzelas eat your hear out.
My apologies Chris, but it was a wicked attempt at a pun. Perhaps I should have said hear(t) so even those in 'the east' (normally anything east of the Rocky Mountains) would understand.
