When cable is not stable...

Post by John Gray »

This morning a cable line at one of our offices stopped working, so I reported it. After a few hours an engineer rang me to say that there was a mains power outage in the area which had affected their cable cabinet, and they were going to get a generator to provide power. So after a time the line started working – but stopped again after 35 minutes. More problem reporting took place, then the engineer telephoned to say that the reason for the second loss of service was that their generator had run out of fuel, and his colleague was presently getting some more from the local petrol station! And, no, I am not making this up!

Hopefully the colleague didn't run out of petrol (gas for our friends across the Atlantic) while driving to the local petrol station...
Best wishes,
Hans
