Did you know that........?

Post by viking33 »

Did you know that:

1.. That the words "race car" spelled backward still spell "race car"?

2.. That "eat" is the only word that if you take the 1st letter and move it to the last, it spells its past tense "ate"?

3. that the appropriate term for 'a word, phrase or sentence which reads the same backwards as forwards' is a 'palindrome'?

And you can do much better than "race car".
How about
"Reviled did I live, said I, as evil I did deliver."
"Mr. Owl ate my metal worm."
"Marge lets Norah see Sharon's telegram."
"No, Mel Gibson is a casino's big lemon."
and, of course, probably the most famous:
"A man, a plan, a canal - Panama!"

I would expect more. I was just starting the thread off with a few easy examples! :clapping:

Here's another one: "partyboobytrap" (I'll leave it to the reader to work out the connection with a former vice-presidential candidate).

And there's the intriguing question "Do geese see God"?
Best wishes,
Hans

Also fun: the video Bob - a song by "Weird Al" Yankovic whose lyrics consist entirely of palindromes (it's a parody of Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues)
Best wishes,

No I'm sorry, I'm not prepared to pursue my line of enquiry any further as I think this is getting too silly.

Ok I give up. I should have known better than to resort to Monty Python quotes here...
