To the dog, it's all play.HansV wrote:Amazing! I had no idea they could play together like that!
To the deer, it's part play, part defensive reaction, I think.

That was my impression too, but I find it amazing that a deer would play with a dog at all...viking33 wrote:To the dog, it's all play.

Whatever the reason, I think it's cute're than can be. You can hear the owner/videographer telling the dog "...no biting..." and the dog seemed to obey.
Wonder how that little deer got over what appears to be a four-foot high chain-link fence? Can they jump that high?

Looking at the way the deer was bouncin' around, I wouldn't bet against it.Bigaldoc wrote:....Can they jump that high?

I have seen deer play chasing games early on morning in dense forest, so the chasing part would come naturally to a fawn or young deer. And a deer can easily clear a fence three times it's height.

He probably used the gate.Bigaldoc wrote: Wonder how that little deer got over what appears to be a four-foot high chain-link fence? Can they jump that high?
Seriously, a full grown whitetail deer can effortlessly clear a 10' fence standing right next to it. That's what makes them such a nuisance to homeowners and farmers. You can't keep them out.

Re: Deer, Dog, Ball
I'm sure that's right. I remember now back when we lived in Boulder, Colorado, complaints about deer eating trees to death on homeowner's property. Of course, in Boulder proper I think there was a limit on how high a fence could be and I'm sure they weren't 10' high...
