You might like this dynamic map, which shows wind currents over the earth...

Very nice... :starstruck:
Most of the wind is over the oceans (to be expected) - Just perfect for sailing and wind surfing.
Whats happening on the north east side of N.America. The wind is HOWLING there!!! (It's not howl-o-ween, is it?)

Rudi

There's a large winter storm going through there, Rudi.
We're supposed to get high winds and thunderstorms tomorrow. It's fairly windy now; just came in from a walk, and decided, "Hmmm... it's very windy. Probably not a great time to walk in the woods!" when I saw branches falling and sticking into the ground. So I came inside. LOL

Yikes... better not go out tomorrow either, since lightning and trees are not a healthy combo!

I'm surprised there's not a lot more wind around Mexico.

They do eat a lot of beans there.

The strong gusts do not show as prominently in winter due to denser wind barriers :hushmouth:

And the wind map was actually created by a programmer named B.B. Wolf.

And of course, the threat of tornadoes in the South during winter is a real one:
"I think there's a high likelihood there will be severe storms with hail and damaging wind" in parts of the South, Kines said. "Whether or not there's tornadoes, that's tough to say, but I will say the conditions are right."

Tornadoes are far more common in the spring and summer, but not unheard of in the winter. A tornado outbreak on Christmas Day 2012 reached from northeastern Texas through central Alabama — one twister hit Mobile, Ala. A tornado on Dec. 16, 2000, killed 11 people in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

I finally took time to look at your link! It is awesome to see the winds of the cold front colliding with the winds from the warm front, over our area! No wonder we have lots of rain and the potential of severe storms.
:thankyou:

It's been miserable weather all day up here in Yorkshire. We'd hoped to go out for a walk, it being the first day of my holiday but :nope: way, way to wet and windy.
