Veteran mainframers will remember this format from the early 70s. Here's the latest variant that I've seen...

I had a B&W version of this as the frontispiece to my first Cobol manual over 25 years ago. It's truism became apparent over time and I've always enjoyed it. I found a version recently with an extra few panels to the one you found...

Thanks, Steve - the last two frames enabled me to see the source of this new version: Project Cartoon.

Here's the original version (at least, the earliest one I've seen). You can see how old it is because it doesn't use Arial/Helvetica for the captions!
