A very enjoyable read about a distinctly not enjoyable condition.

Re: Cancer and the NHS
That's some read Leif! So much of it struck a chord. My own experience differed in that my cancer was caught in time to treat it without panic but I share the admiration in his description of the dedication of all the NHS staff involved. The frustration of the consequences of the privatization of the parts of the NHS that a profit can be made from that seemed to serve no purpose other than deprivation of funds to the NHS and enabling CEOs of small businesses to buy yachts for them selves. I don't share the experience of the pain he went through, prostate cancer can kill you without so much as a belly ache, except perhaps maybe the biopsy or my comorbid DVT and subsequent pulmonary embolism, that really hurt, but they didn't need to give me any opiates!
Can I take the opportunity to remind all here that are men over 50 or know any men over 50 and who are sons or brothers of someone with a prostate cancer diagnosis and think they might have symptoms to get a PSA test.

The biopsy bit is no fun at all!
Current statistics are that 1 in 8 men will experience prostate cancer. But not if you are coloured - for them it rises to 1 in 4.
