Take a quick look at these images.
i reckon that if you showed a selected 50% of the images⁽¹⁾ to The Unsuspecting Public, people would be willing to place each image somewhere on Earth.
The final image rattled me. I thought '"Eyre's rock on a rare cloudy day", or The Olgas.

Surely not "Ayers Rock", also known as "Uluru"?

Our septic-tank toilet bowl in Southern Cross was Christened "Eyre's Rock" after a visiting Father Lawrence Eyre pulled too hard on the chain, and the iron lever thingy fell five feet and cracked the bowl. Solution? A wooden form and a couple of cubic feet of concrete poured into the wooden form to seal the bowl from the outside.
But you might not be not interested in that.

Yes indeed "Uluru", but (a) childhood habits die hard [[[see next month's signature]]] and (b) I wasn't sure how many Loungers would know it by its new name.
It is, indeed, a bit of a Gray Eyrea.

My curiousity gained the upper hand over my work schedule for today, so I searched for "Eyre's Rock"

I thought that the third presented image looked suspiciously like Wave Rock near Hyden(WA).

To my horror, it seems that the bulk of the images presented by the search are of rocks scattered all around the 3,000,000 square miles that is Australia.

Now: How can I use this to confuse the esteemed Mr. Gray?

Graeme, as the clouds return to your place on this planet⁽¹⁾, you may find this home-grown article interesting: NASA researchers study 'Mars-like' WA salt lakes for information about extraterrestrial life.
The southern part of WA is famous for its pink lakes.

As well, folks look at a map of WA and are amazed at the area of lakes right across the state; most of the lakes are salt pans.

Lake Mackay, known as Wilkinkarra to John Gray, "...is the fourth largest lake in Australia. It measures approximately 100 kilometres (60 mi) east-west and north-south ..."

I think it is neither old age nor eyesight. I picked up my new lenses from Tammy on Monday.

BOM's latest outlook signals soggy spring weather for eastern Australia
i have spent roughly half my life in Australia, half in North America, so i browse news articles about both continents.
The article quoted above has some maps/charts which will be misleading to some readers, but this one flattened me:-

Bear in mind that I had read the article down to the point where the map appears, and so I was immersed in thinking AS an Australian OF Australia.
This map caused my mind to flip - why was a map of North America being presented to describe the Indian Ocean dipole?
Too, the Indian Ocean is my "native ocean"; it's what we surf in when we are in Perth.

The black annotations, "Arctic Ocean" and "Baja California" are mine, noting what, at first glance, seemed to me to be natural features of my adopted continent.

This is what I call mis-leading. In an article about rainfall, the brain's first interpretation will be "blue means significant rain", whereas the map is not a map; it is a probability chart, and blue means "high probability that rain will fall", rather than the amount of rain that will fall.
