Radio- flashing colon separating hr and mins

Post by uncle »

Does anyone have a Wextclox Model 80209 AM/FM clock radio? If so, perhaps you can answer this question: the colon between the hour and minute flashes except when the radio is on. I don’t know how to stop it from flashing, if it’s possible. Westclox is out of business so I don’t know where to turn, except to you guys! (Web wasn’t helpful.)

Thank you

Given an appropriate measuring device, I suspect that you would find that the colon flashed exactly every second, and that this is a "feature" of the clock!

Could just turn the volume to zero instead of turning the radio off?

Would a thin strip of black insulation tape turn off (hide) the flashing LEDs?

Thanks, Guys.
Had thought of turning the volume down, down, down, but wondered how much electricity that would use, having it on 24/5 throughout the year(s).
Yes, I could resort to using tape. I still think I may have misunderstood how to set the time...is it usual for the flashing to be constant, do you know?
Thanks for both suggestions!

I do believe you are correct John. WIll never know if that is the case or I misunderstand the instructions. I have resorted to covering the colon, as Graeme suggested (and I'm embarrassed that I didn't think of that).

So no more need of a colonoscopy.
