but, who knows...
Q: how much water do you waste a day if your tap drips a drop every 6 seconds ?

Re: Not a puzzle
Spoiler
Approx. 14.4 liters
One drop of water is approximately 0.001 litre (1ml)
Number of seconds in one day = 86400
=0.001 *(86400/6)
=14.4 liters
An interesting site/calculator: http://water.usgs.gov/edu/activity-drip.html, which totally blows my calc because 10 drops per minute is measured to waste 3 liters? Either their calculator is wrong, or I am??

Re: Not a puzzle
I don't agree Rudi. That webpage is quite wrong and has obviously not done any measurements, they are just guessing.
Some sixty years ago, at school, we had to measure the drips as part of a project. Although, at the time, the dGH was around ten or eleven, whereas that webpage may be referring to a 0-1 dGH water, but I doubt that the difference would be that large.

Spoiler
On closer inspection I see that it shows 14,400 drips per day, which they equate to 3 liters...
So maybe I am way wrong!!

Spoiler
MUltiply their answer by 6 to convert from their rate of drips (10 DPS) to your rate (60 DPS) gives 3 liters x 6 = 18 liters, which, given the approximations, is within a reasonable range of your result of 14.4 liters.

Re: Not a puzzle
We common folks do not use "litre or liter" here in the US.
We use pints, quarts, and gallons!

Choose whether you're with the "EEERRRRR" people or the "RRRRREEEEEEE" people.
Which brings up the point of how this British spelling is as incomprehensible as the French practice of tossing away letters at random when pronouncing words they've used, obviously, countless too many letters to spell in the first place. I mean, if they don't need all those letters, then just don't print them! Think of all the toner that would save! The environment could at last heal!!!
This habit, and the apparent conscious and unconscious irritant this is bound to cause to their loving neighbors, the Germans, who pronounce Every. Single. Letter., had to lead to some of the frictions these two countries have experienced in centuries past! Could fights and brawls have been averted if a certain country would just pronounce every letter, too? Hard to say but just think ...
But, I digress...
Back to this crazy ending the British have put on common, easy to pronounce words like "liter". I mean, HOW can you pronounce "litRE" with an "EEERRRRR" ending when you spell it with a "RRRRREEEEE" ending? It's just insane!
So let's just forget all this and go have a pint

Music and beer... I'm in!!!
PS: I'm still waiting for the answer Claude!
If the beer tap is dripping one drop every 6 seconds, I'd like to know how much free beer I'll score!

Re: Not a puzzle
As mentioned, a drop in not 1ml Rudi, it is in fact about 1/3 of a ml. So, you should now be able to figure it out
The easiest way of measuring is to collect a certain amount of drops and counting the drops, an exhilarating experience, I've done it.
