I don't know why this hasn't worried me before.
I've made up my Xmas2011.doc with a great green picture where the preprinted "Merry Xmas" appears on the card.
My text flows around the card.
Last step is to change the image colour to have a white-fill.
When I print my letter on the cards, the text will flow around the pre-printed message "Merry Xmas".
I muse on how clever I am. You don't need white ink to print on white paper.
Then I ponder what would happen if I were printing this on, say, blue paper.
I'd still want my shape to appear as white, but on the background of blue paper.
So am I burning up vast amounts of R+G+B toner (equals $+$+$) to get the white effect?
I think that I must be.
Running out of white toner.

Re: Running out of white toner.
Unless you can get a special cartridge with white toner (very expensive), you can't print white with an inkjet printer. Mixing red, blue and green (or cyan, magenta and yellow) doesn't result in white but in a rather muddy black.
(Perhaps you could fill a cartridge with correction fluid?)

Sorry Hans; I should have stated 'HP2600N Color Laser printer".HansV wrote:... can't print white with an inkjet printer.
Dry-powder cartridges, not wet ink.
Well, yes.(Perhaps you could fill a cartridge with correction fluid?)

Re: Running out of white toner.
When you mix paints, inks or toners, you create successively darker colors. Mixing red, green and blue paint/ink/toner = black (in theory, a muddy color in practice).
When you mix colored light, you create successively lighter colors. Mixing red+blue+green light = white.
