Brother Printer is Offline

Post by BobH »

Please, bear with me.

I'm in the 9th week of a case of sciatica. Bulging disks, spinal canal stenosis, and decades of wear and tear have brought me to this. Between the pain and the opiates I have to take to control it, my brain is damn near completely dysfunctional. I cannot find how to vary the printer back online. I've tried the usual unplug it and plug it back in, but no joys. If my brain would allow me to compose a decent search argument, I'd not bother you . . .

Can anyone tell me how to get my printer back, or point me to a wiki that my drug inhibited brain can understand? I'd be much obliged for the information.

My os is Windows 11; my printer is a Brother HL-2270DW, my wifi network is powered by T-Mobile.

Thank you for the forbearance.

 :chocciebar: :thankyou:

Best I can suggest is that you find a friendly local geek who can come to your house and guide you in fixing it / fix it for you.

Meanwhile, I too offer you best wishes for a return to good health.

Thank you for the kind words.

Silverback, I've downloaded the tool and will give it some attention when my head clears a bit.

Assuming you configure your printer by assigning a fixed address, here is a solution that works for me.

Go to your printer port setting as shown in the attachment and follow the settings.

Hope you feel better. Last summer my brother in law visited us and he had a severe case of sciatica attack. He is now back in the States and was treated by the use of epidural injections and some medication his doctor prescribed. He is now better and was able to travel.

While he was here I did some research and came upon some other possible non invasive treatment. Look into
discogel and discseel treatment in case you want alternative options.

Take care.

Popping back in here for an update: For reasons unknown to me and due to no certain efforts on my part, my printer is back online and working. I don't know, for certain, what caused it but I suspect Airplane Mode. While I've grown accustomed to using Airplane Mode on iOS devices, I was unaware that such a thing existed in Windows. I discovered, quite by accident, that Airplane Mode was turned on on my Dell laptop. I turned it off. Some time later (days, at least) I tried again to print something thinking that I would attack the problem again only to be very pleasantly surprised to learn that the printer functioned as it always had.

The printer had worked with this laptop for some months before it suddenly stopped working. We experienced multiple power outages during and following a tornado in May. I inferred that the printer problem was related to those multiple power outages. Because I had no knowledge of the existence of Airplane Mode in Windows, I am certain that I did not set the option to "on." Might this have happened during frequent restarts? Might a Windows Update have done it? Have I incorrectly linked Airplane Mode and my printer's dysfunction?

Someone else might come across this thread in future, that's why I'm re-opening the topic and raising these questions. :chocciebar: :thankyou:
