Aggregator with automatic checking

I have been using Bloglines to keep up with the 2-3 blogs taht I monitor. The blogs are updated infrequently. Bloglines is not requiring logging in each time and I don't like that. I have installed FeedDemon and it works fine but I have not tried to see if it can be set to monitor the blogs for updates.

1. Can FeedDemon be set up so it will check the blogs perodically? If so, will it use much of my CPU while running all the time?

2. Is there a better way to accomplish my objective?
