Intel Software Asset Manager rebooted two of my PCs

Post by StuartR »

Two of my Windows 10 PCs suddenly restarted with no warning today. The event log for both included an entry saying

Code: Select all

The process msiexec.exe has initiated the restart of computer SERVER on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
 Reason Code: 0x80030002
 Shut-down Type: restart
Comment: The Windows Installer initiated a system restart to complete or continue the configuration of 'Intel(R) SUR QC Software Asset Manager'.
I guess this was the Intel Driver and Support Agent, that runs on both of those computers. What a thoroughly obnoxious piece of behaviour.
