Faststone not accepting automatic startup

I am currently trying out the latest version of Faststone Capture.
I wrote them but they don't answer which bugs me because this is not reassuring. So, I decided to throw this on the table here.

I have checked the box to 'Run when Windows starts' and chose what I always used: minimized start in the tray.
But each day I have to start FSC myself.
I check if the box is ticked and it is: FSC just isn't listening.

I ended up placing a shortcut to FSC in the 'Startup' folder. This doesn't help either.
Does someone know what's going on? Is it because this is the trial? Each day I now think 'What? Why... [hitting shortcut again, again, again...] Oh wait...'

Strange - I tried it just now and it works as intended.
You might check whether Windows is set to display the FastStone Capture icon in Taskbar Settings > Other system tray icons:
