AVG and Malwarebytes interaction problem

Post by silverback »

I've been running AVG and Malwarebytes on my PC for some time with no problem. I recently installed the latest AVG - 10.0.1170 and a couple of days ago Malwarebytes automatically downloaded its latest version 1.50.1
I ran them OK the first day, then Malwarebytes found a Trojan yesterday, which it dealt with.
Since then, AVG keeps reporting that mbamnet.dll and mbamcore.dll are trojans.
I uninstalled Malwarebytes, downloaded a new copy and installed it. As soon as the installation had finished, AVG Resident Shield flashed up a warning saying it had detected trojans in the two above files.
How do I determine if this is a genuine problem (and how's the trojan getting here if I'm downloading a new copy of Malwarebytes?) or if it's a false 'positive', please?
Thanks

It's a false positive - see AVG False Positive against Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.50.1 - Malwarebytes Forum. It explains how to set AVG to ignore the MalwareBytes folder.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks, Hans.
I didn't know about the Malwarebytes forum page.
So thanks for setting my mind at rest and for the forum page.
Happy Christmas.
