Hello
I have set up a Gmail alias to match my Google Sites domain name. So that people can email me at graeme@mydomain.com. But when I send an email it comes from mydomain@gmail.com.
Can I set up the text that is displayed in the recipient's inbox to show graeme@mydomain.com instead of mydomain@gmail.com?
Thanks
Graeme

Re: Gmail From Box Text
Seems like the way forward, thanks.
Can't get it to work though!
I'm using the alias email as the other email address.
I have tried the pre populated SMTP Server: as the gmail email and I've tried changing it to SMTP.gmail.com
I have tried the pre populated Username: as Graeme and I've tried the gmail email username.
I have entered the password, reset the password to be sure and tried that.
I have tried Port 587 and Port 465 and Port 25.
Every attempt ends with:
Authentication failed. Please check your username/password.
Server returned an error: "DNS Error: DNS type 'aaaa' lookup of smtp.averywayobservatory.co.uk responded with code NXDOMAIN DNS type 'a' lookup of smtp.averywayobservatory.co.uk responded with code NXDOMAIN, code: 553"
There must be a combination of the above that I haven't tried but it escapes me!

Re: Gmail From Box Text
The domain averyobservatory.co.uk has DNS records, but there is NO record for smtp.averywayobservatory.co.uk, which matches the error message that you showed.
Where did you find the suggestion to use smtp.averywayobservatory.co.uk - if this is your domain then do you have an SMTP server of your own?

I'm not sure I understand how you have configured Outlook, but I'm glad you have this sorted

Re: Gmail From Box Text
It already had my hotmail email, my personal gmail and the avery way gmail accounts setup in Outlook, I don't remember setting up the alias, I did that from within Gmail. But anyway, it appeared in the From dropdown box. Result!
I'm not sure I understand either, but I can live with that!
Thanks for your input.
