Spam its not.
I use Gmail in Thunderbird portable to read & send. I checked the 'Spam' folder in Gmail and found a message from an address that was correctly entered in my Contacts list.
Windows 11 Home 22H2

I'm not sure what may have caused this behaviour, but scan through this Thunderbird article and maybe use the option to tell Thunderbird what is NOT junk.

You can create a filter (aka rule) in Gmail not to send messages from a specific user to the Spam folder:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hi Hans, I have quite a few filters in Gmail but never noticed this one. Possibly because I never thought addresses in my contacts list would be classed as Spam.
The message was from Avast Forum who had changed their mail address for notifications. As soon as I found the message it was marked as NOT SPAM and altered the address in all my contacts lists.
