My error Ken for not reviewing these threads. I guess that Mailstore being 'trusted' by Google Gmail must influence Thunderbird... or notstuck wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 15:41Yes but his problem was with trying to get Mailstore to talk to the Gmail servers, Mailstore is now 'trusted' by Gmail. Mailstore have alos said they are working on ensuring it will be 'trusted' by the MS mail servers. What there doesn't seem to be any word on is when / if the Thunderbird mail servers will trust Mailstore.

Re: GMail being smart for Thunderbird
Google / MS / Thunderbird are different organisations so each will have their own processes / procedures / protocols that Mailstore must complete before it becomes a trusted application at each organisation.
The question is, will Mailstore bother to seek trusted status of Thunderbird? I'd guess not a cheap process and Thunderbird is probably a minority email system compared to Gmail and the various MS mail offerings...

Re: GMail being smart for Thunderbird
Curiosity has me ghosting this thread, but I was motivated by Ken's statement about Thunderbird to look for the most used email client applications. I was shocked by the results; but, on reflection, should not have been. The web page says that this is September 2024 data.

Re: GMail being smart for Thunderbird
So, Bob, people like me who use only a Gmail address with the Google Mail application, and Thunderbird for my offline storage of emails (which as I have mentioned is tricky because TBird doesn't allow one to manipulate its Mail Folders), such people might as well drop TBird altogether and use MailStore as the client application.
Does that sound correct (anyone?)
Thanks, Chris

Re: GMail being smart for Thunderbird
Had this answer from Mailstore:
prefs.js is a file created by Thunderbird and it should be in one of the “random-letters-and-numbers” directories.
The lack of this file will not prevent accessing MailStore, but it may prevent archiving of the Thunderbird profile.
Maybe you understand it Chris?

Re: GMail being smart for Thunderbird
Ron, I think that this reply (from Mailstore) refers to live, online harbours of eMail.
My concern (right now) is related to importing orphaned folders, from historic implementations of Thunderbird going back ten or more years.
If you have installed Everything.exe use

Re: GMail being smart for Thunderbird
Chris, thanks for info. My own situation is still unresolved regards linking my T'bird Local Folders to Mailstore. That's all I link because I do not keep mails online with Gmail or Outlook... they either are filed elsewhere on a PC folder, copied to T'bird LF or trashed.
Have you solved such linking?
