use 'tighter view' when composing message

Post by stuck »

MS's lastest piece of nonsense improvement in Office 365 (v1905) is to expand the space between lines in the list of messages. I can fix this choose to use the classic view easy enough, on the Ribbon in View there's a 'use tighter view' option.

HOWEVER, that option does not alter the way a new message is presented and the recipient fields and subject line still take up about twice the screen space they use to.

My Googling seems to confirm That's Just The Way It Is NowTM but anybody here got any clues as to how to fix this use the classic view when composing a message?

Actually that option does change the view of a new message, turning it on does compress the line spacing. It just doesn't tighten the view by very much with the end result that line spacing is still considerably expanded compared to how it used to be.

Fanstastic, another great improvement :sarcasm:

Still would be interested to know if there's any sort of hack to 'fix' this 'issue'.

I have done a fair amount of searching a while back (during support for someone at work who asked if the address and subject line area could be condensed). I did not find anything that could condense or even collapse that area. I somehow doubt there is anything one can do, but if there is ANY chance of a hack I'd be interested too!

I can see how a wider spacing might be 'better' if I was working on a touch-screen...

Meanwhile back in the real world :hairout: :hairout: :hairout: :hairout:

Just to make sure: you haven't accidentally turned on Touch Mode, have you?

The touch mode also works on the "Folder Pane" and touch mode is on as DEFAULT.

Now we need something to get this to work on the Reading pane!

EDIT: The Folder pane could be tightened up a bit more!
