Hi,
Outlook 2016 connected to Exchange Server:
It seems that the delay email delivery option on Outlook is client side, so if Outlook is closed or the PC is off, it will not work. Is there any other options that can be used to delay delivery of email while outlook is closed or PC is off? Does the exchange server have an option to allow this for a user or is there other advice that an Outlook user can do to allow for this delay email option?
Appreciate any advice
TIA

Are you talking sending or receiving, and is the outgoing email held in a PST?

As far as I know, if you are connected to a corporate Exchange Server, the deferred message will be queued on that server and will be sent at the specified time even if Outlook is not running on your PC.
This does not work with Microsoft's online Exchange Servers, however.

Re: Delay email sending while PC off
Hi John,
It is sending.
It is not held in a PST file.
Hans,
That is good to hear. Its strange that so little is mentioned about this on the web.
AFAIK, the person is on a corporate Exchange.
I was hoping that I could avoid the testing, but since there are a number of variables involved, I think the best is to actually test this in the environment but delaying a message for 10 min. Close outlook and see if it sends.
Will provide feedback of the results.
Cheers guys!

According to Delay or schedule sending email messages you can delay email with Outlook for Office 365. Of course, there is no hint of limits or pre-conditions.

TX Joe, but can Outlook be closed (or the PC switched off)?
I have the requester doing a test and I hope to get some feedback of its success or not in due course (within our "corporate" exchange environment).

Re: Delay email sending while PC off
I saw an article that said scheduled emails for Outlook 2016 and later are kept as drafts. If that is true I think Outlook must be open. That same article says Outlook must be open at delivery time. If it is not the email will be sent when Outlook is next opened.
