for some users pcs, in Outlook, the email reminders default to date "1 January 4501"
1) Right-click on the follow up flag on an email. Select "Set Quick Click" to "Complete".
2) Click "Add a reminder". The default date is "1 January 4501".
Ive tested on my pc I get the correct date displaying ie todays date.
see screen captures
Is this a microsoft outlook setting? and how, where do i set?
Many thanks

Mine is OK, I am using 2007 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine.
What Outlook version and OS are these machines that have issues?

Re: Email reminders default to date "1 January 4501"
1 January 4501 is the Outlook equivalent of a Null date. This appears to be a bug ins some versions of Outlook. Instead of setting the Quick Click to Completed, set it to Today or Next Day. Perhaps another Lounger knows a better fix for this, I'll look around some more, in the meantime make sure you are up-to-date in Service Packs.

Re: Email reminders default to date "1 January 4501"
It appears to be caused by setting the Quick Click to Complete; as Goshute suggested, set the Quick Click to Today or Next Day as a workaround.
Outlook MVP Diane Poremsky reports that the problem has been fixed in Outlook 2010.
