Outlook 2010 Not Opening Attached Files For Review

I can't believe the problems lately but here is another one I hope to have someone know the answer to. When I attach a file, as the one in the attachment here will show it is a Word document. 2 things happen. If I try to open it after attaching it for review I get the error message you can see in the uploaded attachment. If I try to add another file to the Outlook email before sending it, it replaces and removes the first attachment.

I have experimented with Excel files, Word files ending with .doc and .docx, and .jpeg files and all of them give me this message. I get the same message if I look at an email in my "sent" folder if I try to open an attachment there as well. I know my attachment is viewable to the receiver but I can't see it once attached.

Any idea why this started happening and how can I fix it? It is a new problem that just started happening in the last few days also.

Thank you for that. Seems a fix for my version is not yet available. Hope they get it soon.

If it goes on too long I will try the uninstalling the update and thanks for pointing that out since I skipped over it once I saw there was no fix at this time for me.

Strange thing is since this foul up by MS affects so many versions of Outlook and I use both Outlook 2010 (3 computers) and Outlook 2016 (1 computer) it only affected the one I use all the time with Outlook 2010. Just my luck, I guess.

Thanks seems lately I need it. I made my decision based on what little I could figure out about that critical update. I believe it had to do with opening MS Office files that could have malicious code embedded in it. I don't do that as far as opening MS Office files unless I am 100% certain of their safety. So I believe I only need to be a little extra cautious until the next update is released. At least that is what I am hoping.
