What happens if you select File > Account Settings > Account Settings...
In the Account Settings dialog, select your e-mail account, then click Change...
In the Change Account dialog, click Test Account Settings...
Do you see error messages? If so, what do they say?

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
Sometimes it helps to create a new e-mail profile in the Mail (32-bit) control panel.
But... I remember now that at the place where I work, some people are able to set up a Hotmail/Live account in Outlook 2010, and others aren't, despite creating a new profile and installing the latest version of the Outlook Connector. So there appears to be a problem with Hotmail/Live accounts in Outlook...

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
Thanks Hans.
It's weird since it started 2 days ago, and it has been running for years with Outlook Connector.
What would you suggest I do?
I downloaded OffCAT and it said that:
No MX record for " found in DNS.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Connector?

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
I'd check the .pst or .ost file with the Repair Outlook Data Files tool from Microsoft.
Cheers, Claude.

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
Claude: tried that with OffCAT and I tried Scanpst.exe but with no success, are there other tools I can try?
JoeP: I haven't tried that, I will need to find out how to do that, any references?

You should be able to uninstall the Outlook Connector from the Programs and Features control panel.
The latest version can be downloaded from Outlook Hotmail Connector 32-bit.

Thanks Hans.
Another couple of facts are:
There are a lot of entries in the Synchronisations folder,
There are a couple of red cross entries in the Send/Receive tab, in Cancel and Work Offline.

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
I have downloaded Outlook Connector.exe and run it, seemed to run ok.
The red cross icons in send/receive tab are still there.
I pushed the send/receive button to no avail. The send receive status is included. Additionally the Synch Issues folder has 25588 entries, doe this men the synching will take ages to complete?

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
How large is your .pst file ? I've found in the past that if it gets too large (no idea what the limit is) Outlook plays up. Another suggestion: look at your Outlook deleted items folder and delete everything in there.
Cheers, Claude.

The sizes were pretty big at one stage, now the file for 27/7/16 is 1,201,329 Kb.
I deleted the deleted folder contents yesterday. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
I have tried to do an undo of a system restore point and keep getting a system restore error saying it couldn't restore a file.
See attached.
Other times it says your anti virus needs to be disabled. I went into avast and disabled a check box in trouble shooting.

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
The file aswMonFlt(3787).sys is associated with Avast. I think you'll have to disable Avast entirely before attempting a system restore. Don't forget to enable it again afterwards.

Hans

How do I disable it?
I have gone into Task Manager and chose it in the startup apps but it won't take the disable option.

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
See How to Disable (Turn Off, Stop) Avast Antivirus 2016 Completely or Temporarily. I assume it'll be similar if you have an older version.
I'd use the first option described in the article: 1.1 Turn Off/Disable Avast Completely (All Shields)

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
I did that but it still fails. An avast file again.
Avast does not appear in the icons at bottom.
Do I need to shutdown and start again before trying the restore, I will try that.
