Post by diana »

Outlook 2013 has delegate access to mailbox doesn’t want delegates Calendar

Users has delegate access to anothers mailbox.

They have access to the Inbox, and access to the Calendar. The delegates Calendar they don’t need.

How do they have access to the Inbox only and not the Calendar

TIA

The screenshot is from Outlook 2016, so you will need to confirm if it is similar in 2013...

Can I clarify if you are wanting to set up a users permissions to access another persons Inbox but not Calendar?

Does this dialog provide you with the solution?
(Found under File > Account Settings > Delegate Access)

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hello Rudi

Yes that's correct

users has permissions to access another users Inbox, including the Calendar.
Automatically the Calendar is available as they have permissions to the users mailbox. However want to remove Calendar from their Calendar.
If they untick the Calendar its right, until they click in the users Inbox, the result is Outlook 2013 then ticks the Calendar and updates, the result is Outlook is not Responding until the Calendar updates.

There are two ways to add delegate access

The way delegates was added was the old Outlook 2007 and unfortunately doesn’t allow removal of Calendars
In Outlook 2013

1 Go to File – Account Settings - Account Settings
2 Double click on CorrsAccount
3 Click on More Settings then the Advanced tab
4 Click the Add button and type in the name of the person’s mailbox you want to add. You only need to enter the first and last names and it’s not case sensitive, add the name.
5 Click OK and verify that Use Cached Exchange Mode is checked. Make sure ‘Download shared folders’ is NOT checked. This should be the case for all additional mailboxes.
6 Click OK then Next then Finish and Close.
7 Restart Outlook

OK, so I was way off base with the option to delegate access to mail items. The way you describe is linking to another account, so the dialog option I posted above is not helpful in this process. Sorry Diane, I have little experience on the admin side of Outlook. I hope someone else can provide more meaningful info.
