Just recently, my Outlook 2007 has become frustratingly lazy... slow. Launching it takes nearly a full minute. The "Advanced Toolbar" has to be enabled manually on every startup. A new message window takes 10+ seconds to open... and other similar slow operations.
I've run the "Diagnostic" tool and no problems were found. I've run the "pstscan.exe" tool on my main "outlook.pst" file and the other "archive.pst" files, running it several times on each file until no errors were found. These efforts have not resolved the problem.
Any other suggestions in regard to resolving this "slowness"?
FYI: my .pst file is 165 megs.
TIA

Re: "Lazy" Outlook 2007
Try disabling add-ins:
Select Tools | Trust Center...
Click Add-ins.
Select COM add-ins from the Manage dropdown, then click Go...
One approach is to disable ALL add-ins.
If performance is noticeably better, enable add-ons you need one by one. When performance takes a nose-dive, you've found the culprit.
Another approach is to disable add-ins one by one until performance improves.
If there's no improvement, we'll have to investigate further.

Disabled ALL of the COM add-ins, closed and restarted Outlook and the problem remains.

Next step: create a new e-mail profile from the Mail control panel. See How to create a new Outlook 2007 or 2010 profile.

No go with the new Profile either. I used my current "outlook.pst" file as the data file, if that makes any difference? Same slow startup, no Advanced Toolbar, etc., etc......
ADDENDUM: I tried opening Outlook in "Safe Mode" [hold down 'Ctrl when clicking on the icon/shortcut] and it launches instantly.

Re: "Lazy" Outlook 2007
Hmm... if it's fast in Safe Mode I'd expect an add-in to be the culprit.
You could try starting with a new .pst file. It this solves the problem, you can copy messages, appointments etc. from the old .pst file into the new one.
Does your anti-virus program have a scan e-mail option? If so, try turning that off (attachments will still be scanned when you open them).

Re: "Lazy" Outlook 2007
Well, the "More ideas:" did the trick; "Solution 1" specifically, i.e., deleting those 4 files, of which I only had 3. The "views.dat" didn't exist. Outlook now flashes open, all toolbars are displayed, including my one VBA macro I created to save embedded images. The new message window snaps open, etc... just as it used to do. I don't have a clue what caused the corruption, and personally at this point, which is unusual for me, I really don't care. I'm happy as a pig in slop that Outlook is functioning properly once again. I just hope it lasts....
