All Outlook Message Rec. show attachment

Post by j3pace »

Hey, goofy thing going on. I use MS Outlook 2010 to send and rec. Hotmail and Gmail. Heard today from my brother that I send emails to that every message he rec. from me shows there is an attachment but there are not any attachments and are not supposed to be. Is this issue from my end and the sender or his end as the receiver? He also uses Outlook 2010. And what can be done about it?

Thanks,

Welcome to Eileen's Lounge!

Which format do you use for your e-mails? HTML, Rich Text or Plain Text?
Best wishes,
Hans

Strange - this sometimes happens when you compose an e-mail in Rich Text format and send it through a non-Outlook account (such as Gmail or Hotmail), but generally not in HTML format.
Could you, as an experiment, send a message in Plain Text format, without an attachment, and ask your brother whether that has a paperclip icon? Thanks in advance!
Best wishes,
Hans

Hans, you were correct. Sending via Outlook, in Plain Text format, did not produce a false notice of an attachment. And now I am wondering if the stationery choice resulted in notation of an attachment. So, I guess I see no reason not to have PT as the default format.
Thank you.
