I have installed Office 2007 on my new laptop (the old one died). I next installed the Outlook Connector which completed ok.
I then went into Outlook 2007 and tried to setup the email there. However I don't have an ISP and only want to use an email address via the outlook connector.
It asks for an email address which I don't have.
How can I overcome this initial setup of an email address I don't want?

Re: install outlook error
Can you please try to explain this to me.
What is "the Outlook Connector"?
Why do you want to use an email application when you don't have an email address?

Re: install outlook error
On my old laptop I had an email address of thornp@iprimus.com.au, and I left that ISP and used Outlook Connector to use an email address of AccessSolutions@live.com.au.
Then I disabled my original email thornp@.... and continued to use the new one quite happily.
Last week my laptop died and I bought a new one.
After the install of Office 2007 I installed Outlook Connector.
On going into Outlook for the first time I cannot setup an email account of thornp@... as I no longer use the ISP.
What can I do to over come this problem? Do I need to get an email address to satisfy Outlook 2007, if so, where can I get one?

Re: install outlook error
Solved, I had to manually choose the Outlook Connector to install it.
However I still need to disable the Personal Folders? How do I do this, I have forgotten?

Re: install outlook error
Sorry, what do you mean by "disable the Personal Folders"? Do you want to close them?
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: install outlook error
I don't wish to use the personal folders anymore.
The AccessSolutions@live.com.au folder is the one I wish to use.

Re: install outlook error
Quit Outlook.
Select Start > Control Panel > Mail.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, it's probably named Mail (32-bit).
In the Mail control panel, click Data Files...
You may see several .pst files.
Select the live.com one, and click Set as Default.
Select the one you don't want, and click Remove.
Finally, click Close (2x)

Re: install outlook error
This getting worse ans very frustrating, I did what you said (with the exception of deleting the unwanted one, eg Personal Folder and Outlook) and I now cannot send or receive emails.
Should I go back and uninstall Office 2010 and reinstall it?
If I do, what is the procedure to install my email of AccessSolutions@live.com.au?

Re: install outlook error
I don't think you need to reinstall Office 2010.
I'd start by checking all the settings for your live.com.au e-mail account.
If that doesn't help, try creating a new e-mail profile in the Mail control panel.
By the way, I may have asked this before (I didn't bother to search), but why don't you handle your mail through the web interface?

Re: install outlook error
The Send/Receive is continuously on.
Where do I check my settings for the live.com.au account?
What is the web interface and where do I find it?
I have always used Outlook so I would prefer to keep using it if I can.

Re: install outlook error
You can check your account settings by selecting Tools | Account Settings in Outlook itself, or by clicking Accounts in the Mail control panel.
The web interface can be reached through http://www.hotmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or http://mail.live.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: install outlook error
Check whether the settings are correct. Don't forget to click More Settings...
I'm afraid I cannot tell you what the settings should be. I do use Outlook but not with Outlook Connector.

Unbelievable, I ran a scanpst on an old pst that I had saved and it all works, don't ask me how.
Thanks for you time and patience Hans
