Environment:
Windows 7
Outlook 2007
Also occurred on windowsXP – was upgraded to windows 7 two weeks ago
Issue:
I have a user
Emails he receives with an attachment
The attachment can be any file format ie word docs, pdf, images as .jpg or .png
When he forwards these emails and clicks Send
The result: Outlook error message “Cannot send this item”
When he clicks Save, the result: Outlook error message “The operation failed”
AutoSave is set to 3 minutes.
He waits 3 minutes, closes the email by clicking the X on the top right hand of the screen, closes the email and saves the forward email in his Draft.
In draft preview, displays email message as embedded message
I don’t know what the correct behaviour is here - I don’t know if this is a clue as my forwarded emails can preview as a whole email and doesn’t display embedded emails.
When he creates new emails and sends – works successfully with no error messages displayed.
I’ve applied the following fixes with no sucess:
Checked the email addresses all valid email addresses– ie valid email address & domain name
Checked and all these emails are in HTML format
Deleted the file C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.srs
I’ve checked his Outlook settings ie format, all his settings are identical to mine
He has no Rules applied
See screen captures.
Any other ideas
Many thanks
dd

Re: send emails displays message cannot send this item
What happens if the user changes the format of the message to Rich Text Format (in the Options tab of the ribbon)?
Best wishes,
Hans
