"Trouble Loading?" (version 3.6.3) FYI

Post by ChrisGreaves »

FYI

Google Maps
I pasted an address and chose "Search". Nothing loaded. Tried "search three more times". Nada.
For once I clicked on the "trouble Loading?" link which suggested:

Code: Select all

   1. Type 'about:config' (without quotes) in the browser's address bar.
   2. Type 'image' (without quotes) in the 'Filter' field.
   3. Verify that 'dom.disable_image_src_set' is set to FALSE.
   4. Verify that 'network.image.imageBehavior' is set to 0 (the default setting).
Note: 'network.image.imageBehavior' may appear as 'permissions.default.image' for some browsers.
My 'permissions.default.image' was set to 1 so I set it to zero and tried again.

Still no luck.

Then I tried "basic html" and was rewarded with a stripped-down map that did, at least, tell me where the location was in Toronto

You're using NoScript, aren't you? Have you allowed google.com and gstatic.com?
Best wishes,
Hans

You know, Hans, your main problem is that you know too much!

:flee:

You remembered that I delved into NoScript just 3 or 4 weeks ago, and yes, last night I removed all allowances so that I could demonstrate to a friend the total level of protection available.
The natural consequence being that this morning Google maps failed, and I failed to remember that I'd done what I'd done last night ... but you remembered enough to remind me that I'd forgotten ...
I really hate that!

So, permissions restored, and all flows smoothly in this little corner of the world until I shoot myself in the foot.

Again.

Still and all it was an interesting wander through Google Maps Help ...

P.S. And before you ask, yes, I've allowed Eileen's Lounge again, again.
