I am using IE 11 and when I click to download a file, I get the bar at the bottom asking if I want to Open, Save, or Cancel.
How can I make it ALWAYS just prompt for a save location?

Here's one Microsoft response from which the inquirer considers that you (and he) can't get what you want...

Thanks for the quick response.
I'd seen that one (and it made me laugh) but I was hoping someone here knew of a way...
Frustrating that you can't force a download...it's safer that way...

An alternative to IE11, which is now deprecated, is Firefox. Downloads in FF have only two options: Save File and Cancel.

And there is also an extension to add to Fx, that will add he "Run" option to the DL.PaulB wrote:An alternative to IE11, which is now deprecated, is Firefox. Downloads in FF have only two options: Save File and Cancel.
Called Open Download and still is OK on the latest Fx versions.

Re: Force IE11 to prompt with Download location
I have adjusted to the downloads being in the "Download" folder as designed.
One can always move them where they really want them.
Also, note that Edge does the same on the Windows 10 OS.
In the long run, I can clean up the downloaded files just using the one folder and no need to go looking for all of the ones I think I have used.
