In the root folder of my C:\ drive I have some strange folders, the contents of which appear to be the same or similar and all appear to be related to .NET
Are they required?
Can they be removed? or moved?
The folder names are 8ffe1fdb7e524faa63e0c7c562abd893

Those folders are left over from updates to .NET. You can remove them, but you probably have to take ownership of the folders first.
