all the Microsoft Office Access Class Objects disappeared

Post by diana »

We have many MS access databases in 2007.

The client was working on a database one day.

The next day when the client went into the database, they reported SQL errors and none of the functionality worked.

When I looked into the database, I identified that all the Microsoft Office Access Class Objects, ie Visual Basic class modules, reports and most references disappeared/removed.

All that remained were two modules.

Ive resolved by getting a backup of the database and importing the class modules.

My question is:
how could this have happen?

was a key dll missing off a local machine?
some other explaination...?

Many thanks

diana

It looks like the VBA project in the database became seriously corrupt, causing Access to remove most of it. It's very difficult to find out what causes such problems, but a DLL, missing or otherwise, is unlikely to be the cause. Sometimes a network connection dropping away for a fraction of a second makes a database go haywire...
Best wishes,
Hans

There are a number of reports of this happening with Access 2007.
This Discussion has a few suggestions for trying to stop it.
