Access 2007 runtime

Post by Pat »

I have got Access 2007 on my laptop. Can i get a runtime version of access that can run Access 2003 databases?
My brother only has standard office 2007 on his computer.
What do i need to do, and how can i do it?

Access 2007 can open databases in all formats up to and including 2007.

I assume that the runtime version is for your brother - although it is technically possible, it is not a good idea to install both a full version AND a runtime version of Access on the same computer.

The Access 2007 runtime is available for free, and it can open databases in Access 2003 format. See Access 2007 Download: Access Runtime for the download and installation instructions.

Please note that a database MUST have a startup form if it is to be opened in the runtime version.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks John.

Hans, the runtime is for my brother, he has Office 2007 but not Access at all. So do i presume that is ok?

Also, thank you for the tip re the start up form.

Yes, he can install the runtime if he has Office 2007 without Access.
Best wishes,
