Tables cannot be seen in rear end

Post by Peter Kinross »

I have quite a few linked tables in my front end, most from the same back end. Yet there are some I can't see in the back end.
The tables aren't hidden. They show as being in the backend, yet are invisible.
How do get them revealed?

What does Backend.pdf show?
What happens if you try to refresh all links in the Linked Table Manager?
Best wishes,
Hans

Can't see an option to do that. (Access 2010)

Sorry, missed "What does Backend.pdf show?"
'Linked table Manager' is greyed out on the back end. All I can see is the 'navigation options' which I attached.

Try refreshing all linked tables in the front-end database. Does it succeed or do you get an error message?

Hans

I worked out how to refresh all tables. Not the most intuitive.
No luck, the tables are still not showing in the back end. The link addresses are correct in the linked table manager.

Did a compact & repair on both front & back ends, then did another refresh all. No luck.

In the back-end, click the drop-down arrow in the title bar of the navigation pane on the left.
Select 'Object Type' and 'All Access Objects'.
Next, right-click the title bar of the navigation pane.
Select 'Navigation Options' from the context menu.
Tick both the 'Show Hidden Objects' and 'Show System Objects' check boxes, then click OK.
Do you see the table now?
(It is a good idea to clear the 'Show System Objects' check box again afterwards)
Best wishes,
Hans

Do you think that, in the absence of an easier method, that making the tables local in the front end, then importing them into the back end and then linking to the front end would work?
I am concerned that, as the tables are definitely in the back end, doing the above would result in corrupt tables - or Access wouldn't let me do it as it would be duplicating. Just thinking out loud (well in text).

I did that show hidden and system stuff awhile ago. The hidden box was unticked. Ticking the system box did nothing.

You could try this on a copy of both databases.
