One more question - sorry!
Does Access have a problem recognising UNC paths for databases or files?
E.g. '//myserver/etc'.?
(I'm on my home computer so can't test this at the moment.)

No it does not.
For linked tables, a UNC path is the most reliable way to specify the path.
