Page Breaks in an Access 2007 Report

Post by teachesms »

What I don't understand is when I go to each section of my report (multitable report), and tell it to keep the information grouped together on a page, it still breaks across pages.

Example:

I have a primary table in the report with: LastName and FirstName fields
I have a secondary table in the report with: CurriculumCode and Time for fields

Note the example graphic below. If a person is listed and the sum of minutes are listed, I don't want the total of sum of minutes to be on the next page. I want it to push the person to the next page if necessary and keep all information on that person and their minutes together with the total line.

I have told it (each section) to "keep together" in the properties dialog, yet it doesn't help. The Can/Grow and Can/Shrink lines I have changed both ways and tried both on Yes and then turned around and tried both on No and that doesn't help.

Any ideas what can be done?

In this graphic below the first portion of the persons information shows...on the second page at the top, the second portion of the information for this person shows. I want it kept together.

Open the report in design view.
If necessary, activate the Design tab of the ribbon.
Click Group & Sort.
Click More > in the Group, Sort and Total pane that appears at the bottom.
More > will turn into Less <.
To the left of this is a dropdown.
Select "keep whole group together on one page" from the list:

That did it. Thank you Hans. Still not used to that Sort and Group being at the bottom...and everything that is on it.

It's a lot clumsier than the Sorting and Grouping dialog in previous versions. But that's true of much of Office 2007...
Best wishes,
