Can PPT 2003 automatically generate a TOC the way Word 2003 can?

It's not as automated in Word. See Create a table of contents slide that links to custom shows.

Following these instructions, all I get is the title of the first custom slide show in a red underlined font. It doesn’t link to the custom show, even if I hold down control when clicking on it.

What I am trying to get is a summary slide that reproduces levels 1 and 2 of all of the slides in the presentation. Can PPT generate this automatically?
