Slides not in Slide Master of a Template file?

Post by New Daddy »

My organization has purchased beautiful PowerPoint templates from third-party vendors.

But these beautiful layouts are included as regular slides, not master slides. I find it very odd. Am I missing something?

Is there a quick way to turn these regular slides into master slides, so I apply them to my existing slides?

The idea is to copy a slide and edit it.

Although you can copy a slide into slide master view, it wouldn't work as a regular slide master; you'd have to redo the master from scratch. That's far too much work.
Best wishes,
Hans

Then they are no different from regular slides in a PPT format. What's the point of distributing these slides in a POT format?

I've often wondered this myself!

Unless you pirate the shapes and design from the source slide and use in in a properly designed Master, it is just a slide that you can duplicate and use over and over; however it is not linked to a Master slide and one cannot reset them or have them update based on changes on the Master. They might be useful for very short presentations of for single slide cards or brochures
