Lock Slide Objects

Is it possible to lock slide objects in an older version of Power Point?

Only in Microsoft 365, as far as I know.

I thought of a work around.

I created a rectangle object the size of the entire slide, made it 100% transparent and it lays on top of the other objects. The transparent overlay acts like a shield thus protecting the underlying objects from being accidentally moved.
