Scroll wheel problems
This topic may be in the wrong forum. I chose Excel because my problem seems to be limited to this application.
I am running Excel 2003. Until recently the scroll wheel on my Microsoft Explorer Trackball caused the spreadsheet to scroll vertically. Now the default movement is horizontal unless the cursor is on the vertical scroll bar. I am unable to find any settings in Excel to control this. Any ideas?

Re: Scroll wheel problems
I just replaced the trackball with another item of the same part number, and my problem disappeared. Go figure.

Re: Scroll wheel problems
The aforementioned cure was only temporary. The problem seems to come and go, and I have been unable to identify any trigger.Don Wells wrote:I just replaced the trackball with another item of the same part number, and my problem disappeared. Go figure.
I am running Excel 2003 SP3 on XP Professional SP3.
Does anyone have experience with this or a similsr problem?

Re: Scroll wheel problems
I have not encountered it elsewhere, though I operate primarily in Firefox, Outlook or Excel.HansV wrote:Is the problem really limited to Excel?

Re: Scroll wheel problems
There are some threads about this problem on other forums, but there doesn't seem to be a clear cause or solution.
Best wishes,

I have installed the latest trackball driver this morning. Will report back in two weeks on any change in behaviour.

Re: Scroll wheel problems
You could try turning the trackball upside down?
I apologise, but I felt I had to say this

This could have ended up as an M. C. Escher-like thread...

Well, if Don visits The Hague, we can ask Iceland to arrange that he has enough time...
